UPDATE
Ghanaian presidential candidate Nana Kwame Bediako has proposed a $50,000 Citizenship-by-Investment (CIP) program to attract African investors and raise $50 billion for the nation. The initiative, part of Bediako’s campaign for the December 2024 election, aims to offer Ghanaian passports to one million Africans in exchange for investments in sectors like gold, oil, and agro-processing.
African Unity
Bediako’s plan is tied to his vision of a “United States of Africa,” aiming to bolster Pan-African unity through economic cooperation.
UPDATE
Kamala Harris's tax plan promises higher taxes for the wealthy and supposedly cuts for middle- and lower-income Americans (where have we heard that before?). Key changes include restoring the 39.6% tax rate, increasing capital gains tax to 28%, a 25% tax on unrealized gains, and a 25% minimum tax on billionaires.
UPDATE
Switzerland is considering several anti-foreigner proposals ahead of its elections. A key measure would prevent dual nationals from serving as MPs, aiming to tighten national loyalty requirements. Another proposal targets foreigners’ taxes, suggesting a flat rate based on residency, with foreigners paying more than Swiss nationals in certain cases.
No More Dual MPs
Critics argue that banning dual nationals from parliament could alienate Switzerland’s sizable foreign-born population.
Tax Changes
Foreign residents may face higher taxes, aiming to discourage foreign workers and incentivize Swiss citizens.

Widespread Liquidations
Crypto long bets, led by Bitcoin and Ether, saw $94 million liquidated in the past day.
MARKET REVIEW OF THE WEEK
Guyana 🇬🇾

Guyana's real estate market is thriving, driven by its booming oil industry, improving infrastructure, and growing foreign interest.
Rental Yields & Opportunities
Rental yields in Guyana, particularly in urban centers like Georgetown, are on the rise. High demand for housing, fueled by the influx of expats from the oil sector, has led to increased rental prices, with some apartments renting for $1,000–$2,500 per month, depending on the area. Commercial properties are also seeing robust growth, especially near new infrastructure projects such as the Lethem-Georgetown road, which enhances connectivity.
Niche Developments
Eco-tourism and agri-tourism developments are emerging as niche sectors, especially in areas like Anna Regina and Lethem. These regions are attracting investment for eco-lodges and sustainable tourism properties.
Investment Outlook
The discovery of oil reserves continues to draw foreign investors to Guyana. Investment opportunities abound in residential, commercial, and eco-tourism properties, especially in fast-developing cities like Georgetown, Lethem, and Corriverton.
